A useful expansion of PENKO\'s weighing instrumentation
“Measure twice – cut once” is a famous proverb describing the value of correct measurement. On its own, measuring is just a start; the values must be available and remain available. The first requirement is achieved by the display on the instrument. For the second requirement, PENKO has now enhanced its instruments with an internal memory which should store the weight information of the past 7 years for any typical production usage. When fully loaded a FIFO (first in, first out) procedure applies in batches of approximately 6% of the contents. The individual weighing information contains at a minimum the time, date, weight and identification. Depending on the application, additional information, up to an entire e-mark protocol, is available as an option. The importance is that the memory resides inside the instrument and its contents can be recalled, printed or transmitted to a supervisory system. This feature is important for applications such as continuous (beltweighers) and discontinuous (hopper scales) totalising systems as well as for checkweighers and filling equipment. In such cases it may replace the so called “Alibi printer”. As a matter of course this extension is integrated in the EU-certificates of the instruments involved, also suitable for commercial processes/trade applications.
PENKO introduces a new instrument for BELTWEIGHING, type 1020-bw.
Beltweighers are automatic devices, meant for the control, the regulation and totalising of continuous flows of bulk material. Frequently a part of the belt conveyor is made weighing (m/l); giving the load per meter of the belt conveyor. A length measuring device establishes the displacement (l). Multiplying of both values (m/l x l = m) shows the mass of the bulk material, transported over the weigher. Simultaneously the belt speed, the displacement per unit of time (l/t), is established. This way the mass flow (m/l x l/t = m/t) can be calculated. During production the new instrument offers you a lot of information, such as the:
1. Total transported mass (m).
2. Mass flow (m/s).
3. Belt speed (l/t).
4. Load on the belt (m/l).
Apart of presenting this information it is possible to switch off or control the supply of the belt conveyor. So the mass flow can be regulated and a pre-set amount of bulk material can be delivered. The instrument has 3 inputs, 4 outputs and communication via Ethernet and USB. As an option an analogous output and communication RS232, RS422/RS485, CANbus and Profibus are available.
1. Suppress dynamic effects by storing the belts profile.
2. Showing the mass flow, belt speed, total delivered mass and the load per m of belt conveyor via the menu.
3. Switching on and off of the belt and the belt’s supply.
4. Control of the length measuring device.
5. Regulation of the mass flow (option).
6. Switching off on an pre-set mass total.
A NEW Certified Digitizer on the market, suitable for trade applications – SGM800
PENKO introduces a series of digitizers for automatic and non-automatic weighing systems for trade applications. Digitizers are in fact interfaces between the strain gage load cells and systems for data processing, controllers and so on.
The unique PENKO way of measuring high speed 1600 conversions/s, and high internal resolution, 24 bits, guarantees a fast and accurate data transfer. These characteristics allow application of the instruments for static and dynamic weighing as well as for fast applications such as filling and check weighing. As a standard, all models are provided with a RS485 field bus connection and USB to facilitate set-up and back-up functions.
Additional models include RS232/422, Ethernet, CANBUS and Profibus. The range is completed with an analogous output, 0/4 – 20/24 mA. Easy and fast calibration is done digitally. This procedure is supported by a 6 figure digital read which also allows trouble shooting. The SGM800 series features the innovative PENKO G-Cal™ auto-calibration system, allowing calibration for any geographical location directly at the factory prior to shipping and/or installation.
The compact enclosure, 101 x 22,5 x 120 mm (l x w x h) is suitable for DIN-rail mounting.
The range of instruments has been certified for weighing equipment in accordance with the European Directives NAWI and MID.

A range of Indicators for force measurement type 1020-FMD
New force measuring instruments must have more functions and features, be smaller and offer more value for money. PENKO responds to this with a new product range, type 1020-FMD. The instruments are suitable for automatic as well non automatic applications. They are a perfect interface between load cells with an integrated controller to the system for data processing.
The unique PENKO way of measuring high speed 1600 conversions/s, and high internal resolution, 24 bits, guarantees a fast and accurate data transfer and/or cut off. These characteristics allow application of the instruments for static and dynamic force measurement as well as for destructive material tests. These applications are supported with zero adjustment, track recording, hold/peak hold/valley hold and overload protection.
As a standard, all models are provided with USB to facilitate set-up and back-up functions. Additional models include RS232, RS485/422, Ethernet, CANBUS and Profibus. The range is completed with an analogous output, 0/4 – 20/24 mA. Easy and fast calibration is done digitally. The force is displayed by means of a bright 2,8” TFT screen with 13 mm high figures, and a colour bar.
Choose from two enclosures, a compact panel model and stainless steel housing.
