  • New corporate film

Hartmann Valves offers insight into production of high performance valves and wellheads

With Hartmann Valves’ new corporate film Christian and Werner Hartmann, the grandsons of the company founder, provide an interesting insight into the production processes and company philosophy of the valve and wellhead manufacturer.
Since more than 70 years special ball valves and customized wellheads for extreme process conditions are designed and manufactured at the two German Hartmann facilities in Celle and Burgdorf.
Disclosing the secret of zero bubble tightness, decades lifetime and seamless traceability, the film shows how the production of Hartmann’s made in Germany solutions differs from standard products: from tailor-made designs with 3D simulations, via the manual ball lapping and assembling process to testing facilities designed to meet maximum quality requirements of the high performance components.
The three minutes video is available on the Hartmann website www.hartmann-valves.com in eight languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Arabic and Persian

  • Maximum safety for natural gas storage

About 800 Hartmann ball valves are installed in the upper Bavarian DEA gas storage facility Wolfersberg, the deepest gas storage in Europe. A very high safety level as well as plant availability are critical.
When old shut-off valves had to be replaced, Hartmann designed extra compact Twin Ball Valves (TBVs), which are bubble-tight and solve problems of space limitation.
“The extreme shortening of the TBV system was a great job. Now we are able to renew the old isolating section without any problems”, says Markus Schuster, Plant Manager at DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG.

  • DEA reference: Refit of safety ball valves in record time

The natural gas field Völkersen located in the north-western part of Lower Saxony and operated by DEA is one of the most productive in Germany. When operating, as well as during service and preventative maintenance of the surface facilities and the production wells conducted by DEA Niedersachsen, safety has top priority. All components of the plant have to fulfill the highest technical requirements at any time.
In the course of regular 5 yearly maintenance of the Central Gas Drying Plant about 20 ball valves manufactured by Hartmann Valves were inspected and overhauled in September 2016. Thanks to early planning and close cooperation all valves could be reconditioned in a short period and taken back into operation right on schedule.
„Cooperation with Hartmann’s service personnel on-site and during the processing of the different maintenance steps was conducted in close coordination – without any problems.”, says Maintenance Master Meiko Lindhorst at DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG.

  • Reference Nord Stream: Hartmann ball valves assure highest security

At the world’s longest subsea natural gas pipeline an upgrade of the pipeline’s valve system was realized. With this project Nord Stream wanted to reduce the maintenance effort, extend the life cycle and ensure reliable sealing on this important route between Wyborg (Russia) and Lubmin (Germany). The new system consisting of Fahlke actuators, control unit and Hartmann ball valves could fulfill the high requirements regarding safety, temperature, pressure and corrosion standards and deliver a lifetime of many decades. The design of the custom-designed full bore 2-piece ball valves aimed for maximum longevity whilst minimizing response time in the event of an emergency shutdown. The A-rated Hartmann valves guaranteed zero leakage, and were coping with the high pressure of 250 bar and low temperature up to -39°C. Therefore the system had to pass numerous tests, for example in a cold chamber.
“Hartmann Valves provided high quality metal seated ball valves that not only meet Nord Stream’s stringent safety and sealing demands, but also deliver long-term performance“, says Andrea Selvi, Maintenance Manager at Nord Stream.

  • Power to Gas: Innovative Hydrogen Project

As one of the first companies worldwide Uniper Energy Storage GmbH demonstrates a way how renewable energy can be stored in the natural gas grid in order to make production independent from consumption. For the demonstration plant in Falkenhagen (Germany) Hartmann Valves supplied 24 ball valves assuring a maximum of operational safety and plant availability. “Pure hydrogen is a challenging fluid. We have decided to use true metal sealing valves because in technical respect this is the best and safest alternative” says Dr. Helge Föcker, Project Manager Storage Facilities & Project Management, Uniper Energy Storage GmbH.
