SPECTRO is one of the worldwide leading suppliers of analytical instruments, employing optical emission (stationary and mobile Arc/Spark OES, ICP-OES) and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) technology, used for the elemental analysis of materials in industry, research and academia. SPECTRO is a member of the AMETEK Materials Analysis Division.

Our instruments are used by a wide variety of industries. For example, in the metals industry SPECTROmeters are used for the analysis of ores, slags, coating thickness or precious metals. In the chemical industry raw materials, effluents, products and more have to be analyzed. In the environmental sector SPECTRO instruments are applied e.g. for soil, water, dust, airborne pollutants or ash analysis. The pharmaceutical industry relies on SPECTRO analyzers with regards to incoming and outgoing product quality control, trace metals analysis, species and isotope analysis and others. For geology applications our spectrometers are used for both field analysis and laboratory analysis, for example to determine trace elements and major constituents in ores, concentrates and tailings or to detect patterns in rare earth elements. Furthermore, SPECTRO's analyzers are well suited for the analysis of food and animal feed — both in the laboratory and at the production line.

    The SPECTROLAB is well established in the high performance segment for demanding metal analysis. Its worldwide success in all areas of the metal industry is based mainly on the analytical function of the group of components made up of source, optic and readout system. Surpassing the operational potential is nearly impossible. The flexibility ensures optimal analytical performance in the entire range of metal analysis applications.

    Once again, the new SPECTROLAB generation offers an increase in analytical performance specs. Operation of the instrument has also been simplified with additional functions and a further reduction in maintenance requirements. The fast, efficient and understandable documentation and storage of measurement results is now an integral part of the instrument software, which has been enhanced by the Result Manager. Together with lower argon consumption and faster measurement results, these advances lead to definite economic advantages.



    The SPECTROMAXx stationary metal analyzer is used mainly for material testing in foundries and for incoming and outgoing inspections in the metal industry around the world. It determines all of the elements used in the metal industry, including trace analysis of carbon, phosphorous, sulfur and nitrogen.

    The third generation of the SPECTROMAXx features improved operation with the use of toolbar buttons, a user management system, and a separation of operation from programming of the instrument. The measurement is no longer controlled through the menu, but with symbols and toolbar buttons. Once a procedure has been started, only the functions that are logical at that point in time are active in the control software – all other commands are hidden. With the new application profiles, customer specific information can be set before beginning operation, relieving laboratory technicians of administrative activities.

    The SPECTROMAXx independently monitors all operating parameters. It dynamically determines the measurement time required based on the given sample properties and even shows when the spark stand needs to be cleaned depending on the type of samples being examined.



    The SPECTROTEST is a mobile metal analyzer ideal for many applications in the metal producing, metal processing and metal recycling industries. It flaunts its superior performance especially when exact analyses are required, when materials are difficult to identify or when there is a large number of samples to be tested.

    The complex instrument design offers many ergonomic advantages for safe and fatigue free onsite operation. The light, thin probe is quickly converted between arc excitation and spark excitation. A probe with an integrated UV optic is available for special measuring applications; in its newest version it can also be utilized with arc excitation.

    The SPECTROTEST is even able to identify low alloy steel with the carbon content during the rapid arc excitation mode. In spark mode, the analysis of carbon phosphorous and sulfur belong to the possible applications in addition to the identification of duplex steels using the nitrogen content.



    Many elemental analysis tasks in industry, research and the sciences require a non-destructive measuring system that is extremely sensitive and offers a small measuring spot.

    The SPECTRO MIDEX X-ray fluorescence spectrometer was developed for these requirements down to the finest details. With input from our customers, it has been extended and optimized. The result is a SPECTRO MIDEX, that sets new standards for analytical performance and ease of use.

    Now in its third generation, the SPECTRO MIDEX X-ray fluorescence spectrometer has developed into an all-round talent for the fast, non-destructive analysis of small spots and the rapid mapping of large surfaces (up to double EC format, 233x160 mm, 9.2x6.3’’).



    The SPECTRO XEPOS HE is an advanced XRF spectrometer for demanding applications, particularly for the analysis of environmental and process-critical elements.

    Powerful components deliver new levels of sensitivity and accuracy especially for medium and heavy elements.

    Optimum excitation using polarization and secondary targets, an autosampler for up to 12 items, pre-installed application packages and intelligent software modules, make the SPECTRO XEPOS HE one of the most advanced element analyzer available.

    The range of applications includes, among others: The analysis of geological samples, soils, sewage sludge, waste and used oil, as well as RoHS compliance testing; making the SPECTRO XEPOS HE a true multi-talent.



    The SPECTRO GENESIS is the first and only ICP-OES available with a complete set of factory methods - truly “plug & analyze” without needing to first develop a method. These factory methods cover all common environmental and industrial applications, like Water, Waste Water, Industrial Waste Water, Soil, Sewage Sludge, Filter Dust, Wear Metals in Oil and Additives in Oil.

    Compliant to national and international norms, they are delivered ready for use straight out of the box with an application package that includes the sample introduction system, sample preparation instructions and method documentation. An extensive package of accessories is available for the SPECTRO GENESIS to further expand its application range.

    The SPECTRO GENESIS offers a real economic alternative to sequential ICP and Atomic Absorption spectrometers, enabling those who are unfamiliar with ICP to profit from the advantages of leading CCD ICP technology and to use a powerful, low cost and user friendly analytical system.



    Its appearance alone sends out a definite signal: The SPECTRO ARCOS is different from conventional ICP-OES. The prominent left side of the instrument houses the unique optical system – a major development with unbeatable resolution, accuracy and stability.

    The SPECTRO ARCOS can be outfitted with an interface for either axial or radial plasma observation. The new CCD optic system with a Paschen-Runge mount assembly delivers a matchless resolution of 8.5 picometer in the wavelength range from 130 to 340 nm.

    Additional SPECTRO ARCOS strengths include the new, extremely robust, free-running generator with a ceramic tube and solid-state power supply, the low maintenance and economical UV-Plus system for high VUV transparency down to 130 nm, as well as the fast readout system with a dynamic range of eight decades and a transient measuring frequency of up to 10 Hz.

    The proprietary ICAL system logic automatically monitors operation of the SPECTRO ARCOS guaranteeing continuous optimum operating conditions.

    A high degree of flexibility, clear structure and simple operation characterize the “Smart Analyzer Vision” graphical user interface.
