  • Matrix Gemini LIMS Customer Survey Delivers Positive Results

The results of Autoscribe Informatics’ annual survey conducted to gather customer opinions about the Matrix Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) has once again produced very positive results. More than 95% of customers reported that they would recommend Matrix to others, while 73% cite “flexibility/configurability” as the most liked feature of the Matrix Gemini LIMS. The survey was carried out at the end of 2015 amongst Matrix customers from the USA, UK and the Rest of the World.

John Boother, Managing Director at Autoscribe Informatics, commented: “These annual surveys are hugely important to us as they provide a snapshot of how our customers perceive the product itself as well as all aspects of our customer service from pre-sales consultancy to system implementation. Whilst each question in the survey has a scoring system that allows us to see the overall trends in our performance, we also closely examine the individual comments made. These can be very informative and often sow the seeds of how we might do things differently to further improve.”

“We were delighted with the positive response,” he continued. “Overall, respondents rated our pre-sales consultancy at 9 out of 10, implementation service at 8 out of 10 and helpdesk assistance at 9 out of 10, which are excellent results. Nonetheless there is still room for improvement here and in other aspects of our customer service, so we will continue to address all of these areas.”

In addition to the general high scores recorded during the survey, many customers expressed their satisfaction in other ways. These included plans to upgrade their current version of Matrix; add more licenses; expand the use of Matrix to other departments and expand the use of Matrix to other sites.

  • Autoscribe Highlights LIMS Configurability at Lab Innovations

    Stand H6, Lab Innovations, NEC, Birmingham, UK, October 30 - 31, 2019

Known for its highly configurable LIMS solutions, Autoscribe Informatics will be putting the latest version of Matrix Gemini LIMS through its paces at Lab Innovations 2019. Visitors to the Autoscribe Informatics stand will be able to challenge the Autoscribe staff to configure a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) sample registration/submission screen in Matrix Gemini there and then.

Matrix Gemini’s unique graphical configuration tools provide the flexibility to configure the Matrix Gemini LIMS to meet the specific needs of any laboratory workflow without the need for custom programming. “We’re encouraging visitors to bring examples of their sample registration process to our stand and we’ll demonstrate just how quick and easy it is to create a sample registration or submission screen that is specifically relevant to their needs”, commented Autoscribe’s Managing Director, Steve Boother. Seeing a ‘real life’ configuration process carried out on the exhibition stand is a very powerful indicator of the versatility that Matrix Gemini has to offer.

  • Enhanced Capabilities for Matrix Gemini Biobank Management

The Matrix Gemini Biobank Management System from Autoscribe Informatics now offers even greater versatility with the inclusion of environmental monitoring and equipment calibration and maintenance monitoring capabilities. Matrix Gemini Biobanking provides a highly configurable environment for all aspects of biobank, biorepository and clinical trials management. It provides an ideal and proven solution for managing bio-samples (such as blood, tissue, DNA etc.) to assist with compliance to regulatory requirements

With Biobanks typically storing samples in multiple freezers and refrigerators it is extremely important to ensure that this equipment is not only operating within specification, but also that it is being properly maintained and serviced according to the manufacturers’ recommendations. The Instrument Calibration and Maintenance System (ICMS) component of Matrix Gemini allows the status of each item of equipment to be tracked automatically as to whether it is available or unavailable and identifies events such as the maintenance period being exceeded etc. An automatic change of status occurs when calibration or maintenance is overdue and when it is performed. In this way the use of freezers and refrigerators can be prevented if they are not in service, out of maintenance, or out of calibration and samples can be moved if necessary. Automatic reminders of scheduled events are provided.

The addition of the environmental monitoring module allows for rooms and storage vessels to be monitored for temperature and other environmental conditions such as sterility and contamination. It can also be used for temperature mapping within freezers and refrigerators for the identification of hot or cold spots, which can be displayed graphically.

  • SES Water Chooses Matrix Gemini LIMS

SES Water has chosen the Matrix Gemini LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) from Autoscribe Informatics to manage water testing results in its UKAS-accredited laboratory. SES Water is a water-only company and supplies residents in East Surrey, parts of West Sussex, West Kent and South London in the UK. The laboratory annually performs approximately 120,000 tests on around 13,000 samples taken from every point in the supply chain, including water sources, treatment works, storage reservoirs and randomly selected customer premises.

For this application, the Matrix Gemini starter system for water laboratories has been supplemented with chemical inventory management, competency tracking, bulk sample registration capabilities and ICMS (Instrument Calibration and Maintenance System). The built-in Matrix configuration tools will allow the system to be configured to meet the precise needs of SES Water. Not only will Matrix Gemini be directly connected to several laboratory instruments but it will also be linked to an industry-standard 3rd party software which manages the planning and scheduling of water sample collections and produces output for sample pre-registration.

SES Water’s Quality & Compliance Director Nicola Houlahan said: “As a company we are always looking at how we can improve the way we work, especially with the volume of sampling we need to undertake to ensure our water continues to fully comply with the regulatory standards in place. The new Matrix Gemini LIMS will bring significant benefits for our laboratory and sampling teams - working directly on tablets reduces our reliance on paper processes and access to digital calibration and training records will make us more effective too. We’re looking forward to fully launching the new solution next year and all the new features it will bring.”
