Journalist and Content Writer

The Role

We are seeking a Journalist and Content Writer to support our Aesthetics brand in the production of editorial copy for the journal and its associated website, as well as marketing communications promoting our events. This will be a multi-faceted role that will encompass all aspects of a media company. You must be able to meet strict deadlines, write and edit copy precisely and to length and work closely with the Editor and Deputy Editor to ensure that all content is well written, thoroughly researched and factually accurate. As part of this role you will also be expected to develop relationships with expert contributors and advertisers, as well as key opinion leaders and gain a strong understanding and knowledge of the aesthetics market.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning and editing features written by contributors
  • Researching and writing clinical and business features
  • Interviewing industry leaders and experts 
  • Sourcing and writing up-to-date news
  • Attending and reporting on European and UK-based press launches and industry events
  • Regular social media updates and engagement
  • Contributing ideas for innovative content 
  • Attending conferences and researching clinical topics
  • Liaising with the design team
  • Working with the marketing manager to promote the journal and brand events
  • Working with the commercial team to establishing strong relationships with key clients

 

Key Requirements

  • 1-2 years' experience in full-time content, news or feature writing
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills
  • A degree in Journalism or NCTJ qualification (a degree in English will be considered if the candidate has completed modules/work experience in journalism)
  • Experience in proofing and editing
  • Knowledge and experience in utilising social media business accounts including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Motivation to ensure that all content is delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Excellent communication skills and professional conduct
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills

 

Desirable Skills and Experience 

  • Experience in writing for a trade publication or medical audience
  • Interest in healthcare and/or medical aesthetics
  • Experience of filming and editing video content using programmes such as Adobe Premier Pro
  • Experience of relationship building with key contacts for example PRs, contributors and advertisers
