The new hybrid London Taxi – a PLM journey from automotive start-up to series production

Andrew Early, Technical Director, Emerald Automotive Design, TECHNIA. In his session, Andrew will present the case of Emerald Automotive Design. The presentation will detail some of the challenges faced by the new wave of EV start-ups and how PLM has evolved to meet them. About Emerald: Emerald is a gem in the British automotive industry. Starting out as a design studio for commercial electric vehicles in 2013, the young automotive engineering company chose the industry standard for vehicle design; CATIA V5. Then, adopting the 3DEXPERIENCE platform allowed Emerald to rapidly expand their engineering team using “out of the box” PLM functionality, including multi-site, to bring the innovative new London Taxi to production.

Energy Harvesting systems – Challenges and Opportunities

Cristina Rusu, Senior Expert, Micro System technology, RISE. Harvesting environmental energy as an alternative power source addresses the increasing demand for future energy-efficient autonomous sensor systems, especially for applications requiring miniaturisation and distributed sensing such Wireless Sensors Network and Internet-of-Things. A functional energy harvesting system requires addressing simultaneously the harvester device, the energy storage and the powering management circuits. These components are described through examples from one of our projects.

AUTOSAR Adaptive and Classic and Coding Standards: A Platform for Success

Andrew Banks is a Technical Specialist at LDRA with more than 25 years’ experience of high-integrity real-time/embedded software development. What does the addition of AUTOSAR Adaptive mean for the developers tasked with writing applications to adhere to the resulting new hierarchy? Adherence to either AUTOSAR platform standard does not in itself imply compliance with the functional safety standard ISO 26262, let alone the SAE J3061 Cybersecurity guidebook.

Teaching robots how to conduct unbiased job interviews

Together with TNG, Furhat Robotics is developing the world's first unbiased robot recruiter. To do this, we train the robot by feeding it with validated data on how human expert recruiters should conduct unbiased job interviews objectivly. In this talk, I will talk about how social robots could help us to understand and reduce bias in the recruitment process, and how the underlying technology works.Listen to Gabriel Skantze, Chief scientist Furhat Robotics and Professor in Speech Technology at KTH.
