We were confident that we could win. Even against tough competition.
But now it is official: at a gala ceremony on Monday, 15 October, the independent jury crowned Easyfairs with the ultimate award for a Belgian company.
Many Easyfairs colleagues and stakeholders were present.
Established in 1996, the Enterprise of the Year® award is sponsored by Ernst & Young in partnership with BNP Paribas Fortis and Belgium’s leading business newspaper, L’Echo.
It is, as the organisers say, “reserved exclusively for the absolute elite” of Belgian companies.
The finalists and ultimate winner are selected based on six criteria:
“It takes years of collective team effort to meet these exacting criteria,” comments Easyfairs Founder and CEO Eric Everard. “That is why I told the audience at the Award ceremony that this is a huge vote of confidence for all 750 of our employees as well as our partners and stakeholders.”
Our Chief Operating Officer Anne Lafère highlights the role of talent development in winning us this award: “With the Easyfairs Academy we can share best practices across the Easyfairs regions. This not only accelerates the development of skills and competences but also dramatically improves employee engagement.”
The rapid progress we have made with digitalisation of the business and innovative technologies caught the judges’ attention. In our submission, we also highlighted our unique approach to customer-centricity by working closely with the various communities (professional, industrial, interest groups etc.) that we serve.
“Our philosophy of thinking globally but acting locally – glocalisation – was another standout feature for Easyfairs. Our network of offices gives us local centres of excellence, supported by robust corporate-wide processes and an advanced technology backbone. This makes us organisationally responsive and enables rapid geo-cloning of successful event brands.”
Last but not least, we won thanks to our amazing track record of growth and excellent financial results.
In fact, Easyfairs has grown on average 13% per year since its foundation and we invest more than 80% of our profits in developing the business further. “This growth, through new product development, geo-cloning and acquisitions has seen us enter the global Top 20 in the exhibitions industry. An amazing success and a fantastic team achievement,” says Eric.
The future is also looking bright. “Easyfairs understands that there will always be a need for live events that are easy, sociable, innovative and transformative for visitors, and leverage new technologies to maximum effect.”
