  • Ferros Puig Stores and Transports with Software from inconso

Reputable Spanish company relies on inconsoWMS S, inconsoTMS and inconsoPOD

    Bad Nauheim, Germany, 09/20/2017

Ferros Puig, an esteemed retailer of high-quality steel and iron products located in the Catalan Fornells de la Selva, Spain, relies on the warehouse and transport logistics systems from the logistics software specialist inconso. The company has commissioned comprehensive optimization measures for warehouse and transport management. Once they have been implemented, Ferros Puig will be able to rely on efficient processes from goods receiving through to goods issue.

The subsidiary of the Puig Infante Group, established in 1869, encompasses an extensive assortment of products for construction and industry needs, which is subject to high fluctuations in size and quantity. Against this background, the installation of a system landscape for cross-site goods management will take place at the sites Fornells de la Selva and Mollet del Vallès (near Barcelona). In the future, Ferros Puig will complete all processes from goods receiving through to customer deliveries and even picking via a bridge crane using the warehouse management system inconsoWMS S and the transport management system inconsoTMS.

In order to have other, additional functions available for shipment tracking (i.e. tracking and tracing) along the entire transport and supply chain, Ferros Puig has also chosen to include inconsoPOD (Proof of Delivery). The cloud solution enables drivers to transmit all outbound delivery activities with an app. The data from inconsoTMS is made available in real time for continuous stock management in inconsoWMS S, providing Ferros Puig with a detailed view of all goods movements.

Moreover, inconso will supply the complete server infrastructure as well as mobile end devices and printers that go live with the software landscape in October 2017.

Inventory management includes global stock visibility as well as the planning and management of the stock levels in the different distribution centres (inbound stock and stock transfers).
inconsoSCE also provides a tool allowing for configuration, order forecasting and load balancing simulations.

  • Loading and unloading more efficiently with inconsoDSM

n order to efficiently plan and control warehouse and transport activities, inconso presents an extended application for the optimization of load ramp utilization: the inconsoDSM (Dock & Slot Management).

    Bad Nauheim, April 27, 2016

In order to efficiently plan and control warehouse and transport activities, the logistics software specialist inconso further developed and extended its application for the optimization of load ramp utilization. The slot management system inconsoDSM (Dock & Slot Management) now provides an expanded range of functions for comprehensive slot control and thus ensures coordinated and efficient loading and unloading processes.

The newly designed solution combines the benefits of an intelligent organization and information system in one application. inconsoDSM considers shifts as well as plant calendars and differentiates buildings, individual building areas, gates and ramps according to their specific properties. Thus, the system allows for the control of loading and unloading processes tailored to the particular capacities and resources and thereby ensures the optimized utilization of ramps and resources.

Parallel to that, the system allows defined users to obtain authorization for slot booking. Carriers and suppliers are granted access to a web-based platform for simplified booking, cancellation and modification of slots by delivering carriers. Moreover, regular slots for days or weeks are automatically assigned as fixed placeholders by the system for specific agents. In addition, automatically generated system messages (e.g. via e-mail or text message) promptly inform the carrier about slot changes made by the loader. The system data is available for statistical analyses, such as comparison statistics for planned slots and actual arrivals.

As an add-on, inconsoDSM can be integrated into any existing warehouse or yard management system.
