The Niche Vehicle network is an independent association of niche vehicle manufacturers, specialist technology and supply chain companies. For the past ten years, we have provided funding and support to enable these companies to develop new technology and build prototype vehicles which form the basis of new sports cars and motorcycles, demonstrating that the UK leads the way in the adoption of lightweight materials and advanced power train solutions.

Since 2005 the Network has funded a wide range of innovative power train and lightweight vehicle projects. Each project lasted no more than 6 months and developed a range of innovative low carbon technologies and applications with huge potential for both niche and volume vehicle manufacturers.

The UK niche vehicle manufacturing sector is leading the way in the adoption of lightweight materials and development of hybrid and electric power trains. By promoting collaboration between vehicle manufacturers and specialist suppliers, the Network is playing our part in the regeneration of the UK automotive industry as we move towards cleaner, more efficient vehicle technologies.

Investment into the engineering projects has been provided by the NVN, with backing from Innovate UK, the Office for Low Emission Vehicle and the Department For Business Innovation and Skills.
