Transfiniti transmission (PPSI) Infinitely Variable Transmission with individual Wheel Speed and Direction Vectoring. new Transmission can offer a step change in vehicle performance, economy, fuel efficiency, handling and safety as well as reducing CO2 and noise emissions.

Caterham Car

Caterham Car using Crestapol resin from Scott Bader - A Caterham Seven CSR-260 sports car with a custom made CFRP roof, moulded using Scott Bader’s Crestapol® 1260 high performance resin. The lightweight carbon fibre composite roof for the Caterham Seven was vacuum infused by Marine Concepts Ltd. using Crestapol® 1260 urethane acrylate resin in preference to an epoxy resin based laminate; as well as being compatible with carbon fibres, the Crestapol infusion resin was selected as it reduced the overall production time, rapidly curing at room temperature with no need for post cure. Marine Concepts were also able to lacquer or post paint the CFRP roof with no additional surface preparation work required, saving further time and cost.

AEROSPACE: Ground based test rig for electric contra rotating propulsion

ContraElectric Propulsion (CEP) has tested its contra-rotating, propellers driven by electric motors in what is thought to be a world first. Fitted to a test rig, the tests were successful and herald the start of a full trials programme. See the test bed at the show this year!

Voyager 5 - The Export Hub

The Export Hub is a B2B tour designed to help the government get UK SMEs face-to-face with live export opportunities.

The tour aims to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK exporters to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020.

The roadshow will travel the length and breadth of the UK to give support and guidance to first-time exporters using the latest technologies.

Revolutionary access to low cost energy storage

Aceleron will be displaying their battery energy storage module which is made from 100% recycled materials including repurposed batteries.

This feature demonstrates how much Aceleron are able to extract value from end-of-life materials which in turns demonstrates how much more energy savings/carbon saving can be made.

Hydrogen-powered electric vehicle by Riversimple

Water is the only bi-product expelled from the exhaust of UK manufacturer Riversimple's hydrogen-powered electric vehicle.

Riversimple's Rasa prototype, which is reportedly capable of travelling 300 miles on a full tank of hydrogen, was designed to be as ecologically friendly as possible.

The vehicle incorporates an interior trim made from recycled plastic bottles and lightweight materials such as a carbon-composite chassis.

Libralato Hybrid Engine

The Libralato hybrid engine is a completely new kind of rotary engine with a new thermodynamic cycle. The engine was first concept tested in 2011, followed by more rigorous proof of concept testing and analysis in 2014, which indicated that its revolutionary 9-phase cycle is effective and is capable of exceptionally high efficiency and low emissions. The Libralato engine is predicted to be the most efficient compact engine in the world; at least as efficient as a diesel engine (c.40%) using gasoline but half the size and weight.


Elemental RP1 Car


Our core philosophy when designing the Rp1 was to reduce the weight of the car as much as possible.

By reducing weight, the engine power required to achieve high performance is also reduced, so the engine and gearbox can be made smaller, making the car even lighter. A lighter car means lower forces exerted on the car so other components such as the suspension can become lighter too.

And so the process continues. We followed this philosophy to the point where if an off-the shelf part was not light enough, we designed a bespoke one that would be.The result of this attention to detail is a tub and chassis that weighs only 75kg and a whole car that weighs from just 540kg.


Having made all the components lighter you can reap the rewards in terms of faster acceleration, harder braking and tighter cornering.

The light weight of the car, compared to the power and torque of the engine are key indicators of performance. The Rp1’s 550bhp per tonne and 750Nm per tonne are absolutely class leading.


Low weight is of little use if it simply sacrifices strength. Conventional lightweight designs can be prone to chassis flexing and offer little or no driver protection.

We optimised every part and employed cutting edge design, manufacturing and materials technology, to create exceptional structural rigidity.

This in turns gives the Rp1 better chassis dynamics, whilst the structural Tub has been designed to meet FIA side impact standards.
