Optimizing Quill and Injector Performance in Refinery Operations

There are dozens of operations in refineries where quills and injectors are used. It is important to understand the differences between a quill and an injector. The terms are often used interchangeably even though the devices are quite different. An injector has one or more spray nozzles on a pipe and delivers a specific volume of fluid at a specified pressure drop. See Figure 1. The nozzle(s) convert fluid into a predictable drop size spectrum and provide specific spray characteristics. The use of spray nozzles allows more control over the distribution of the injected liquid into the receiving process fluid.

Norway, Russia sent record gas volumes to Europe in 2017

Gas exports to Europe from both Russia and Norway climbed to record levels in 2017, according to fresh analysis by Rystad Energy. Russian and Norwegian gas exports to Europe (including Turkey) reached 194 Bcm and 122 Bcm, respectively, in 2017. Large imports of U.S. diesel boosted Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp diesel and gasoil stocks to a six-week high in the week to June 29

Combined gasoil and diesel stocks were up 78,000 tons, or 2.7%, over the week to 2,945,000 tons, PJK said.

The rise in U.S. imports compensated for low imports from the Middle East, while loading restrictions along the Rhine river also served to cap barge movements, the consultancy added.

U.S. Diesel Imports to Europe Surge, Latin American Demand Clouds Total
