10th of May. 9.30am - Stage Wireless
Situation Normal, Everything Must Change
An organization, whether a business or a government, is a living thing. It comprises a network of people, a mass of different activities, and reserves of capital. It consumes, it produces, it grows and in some cases it fails. Like all organisms, it exists within a number of ecosystems in which it competes and co-operates with others; it’s shaped by and shapes its environment, and hence needs to constantly adapt merely to survive. Also, people come and go, activities change and hence all organizations are in a constant state of flux.
This constant change creates a paradox of innovation, where the two extremes of survival (today and tomorrow) have diametrically opposite concerns, techniques, tactics and methods. The effects of this paradox can be seen in the constant yo-yoing of popular management theories between opposites in a scramble to maintain order. A more effective balance can be found through embracing both goals simultaneously.
In this session, Simon will explore how and why activities evolve, the problems of one size fits all mentality in management, how an organization can both simultaneously become more efficient and encourage innovation, the hidden impacts of cloud computing and how organizations might game these connections within IT to their own benefit.
Simon Wardley, Executive Researcher, CSC's Leading Edge Forum

How do we create a modern and efficient IT organization?
More and more people see the possibilities of new technology that enables new applications that can be introduced to users in a matter of minutes instead of weeks and while doing so with fewer people and at lower cost than before. Is that a threat or opportunity? Enjoy the experience of three activities that have already introduced the new technology and what improvements they achieved.

Bring Your Own Device to a Post Desktop World
Employees today expect to use personal mobile devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, e-readers and more while at work. This bring-your-own-device phenomenon is changing the way IT organizations address network access security. For IT organizations, BYOD means supporting a variety of devices and their operating systems, and maintaining an expected level of service. To keep costs low, it must be easy to securely onboard new devices and quickly identify and resolve problems. This session focuses on the benefits and considerations associated with BYOD, and how organizations can effectively deploy a unified access management solution for any wireless, wired or VPN network.

Case studies with HP Storage "Skövde - How we built up an unusually safe environment with full redundancy"
Skövde has chosen to focus fully on their operational and disaster recovery through such cooperation between counties. By building two redundant data centers where one hall can be taken down for maintenance without affecting operation. If you have any problems in one hall the operation can easy be transferred to the other and create a safe environment. The initiative enables a greater cooperation between local authorities and create a possibility for further development.
Hear Therese Ahlberg IT operations manager for the county of Skövde and Martin Lund - systems engineers, tell us more about how they chose to build its data center, the county's future visions, why they have chosen to focus on HP infrastructure and how to transfer home investment.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) and OpenFlow - a network revolution
In a virtualized world where the network's ability to dynamically adapt to a constantly changing environment has shown that the traditional way of building networks have limitations. A revolution is on its way in silence. The Software Defined Networking (SDN) and the standard OpenFlow opens new possibilities of automation and control as it reduces both administering the process, reduce costs and increase safety. But what are the applications and how does it work? HP, which in 2007 began to develop solutions based on OpenFlow and who have made the OpenFlow commercially available on their switches, explain the concepts.
