Our work is concentrated on innovation and the development of value-adding technology. Using Sweden's most extensive and advanced resources for technical evaluation, measurement technology, research and development, we make an important contribution to the competitiveness and sustainable development of industry. Research is carried out in close conjunction with universities and institutes of technology, to the benefit of a customer base of about 9000 organisations, ranging from start-up companies developing new technologies or new ideas to international groups.

SP works widely towards the plastics and rubbers industries. We help plastic producing companies with development of new materials and materials for new applications. It is mainly about optimizing plastic recipes regarding specific properties. In the last years we have for instance helped some customers to develop nano composites for special applications.

A central property for polymeric materials is ageing behaviour, which we work with very widely. We simulate ageing of plastics and rubbers in many different environments with heat, sun, chemicals, mechanical stress and water. We also evaluate desired ageing like biological degradation and offer certification of biodegradable products.

Another area where we offer certification is polymeric building materials. It can be about CE-marking but many times our costumes aim higher with our quality marking system, the P-mark. This certification is administrated by SP Sitac.

Our high competence areas are pipes, vehicle cables, waterproofing products for bathrooms, recycling, degradation, nano composites, plasticizers and cyclic mechanical stress.
