Frip - Foil Blocking and Embossing

Frip Finishing set out in 1970, providing hot foil stamping and embossing primarily servicing the luxury packaging requirements of the Scottish Whisky Industry.

Nowadays, our foil blocking customer base encompasses all stages of the creative process from brand owners and designers through to commercial printers, publisher’s and carton house, all this complimented by dedicated and experienced staff with commitment, professionalism and understanding of your individual requirements.

Frip - Lamination Service

Lamination adds value to your print and packaging through enhancing, protecting and extending product life as well as providing look, feel and design impact.

FRIP Finishing has the broadest range of film lamination services within the UK. We have state of the art equipment enabling us to repsond to your need for fast turnaround whilst also having the ability to undertake specialist lamination and non standard sheet sizes.

See us as your in house lamination service giving you access to our resources of equipment, technical expertise and commitment to getting the job done on cost, seamlessly and in a way that compliments you.

We offer a wide range of envirimentally responsible choices for both film and adhesives and are able to offer specialist food grades and window lamination services.

Traditional - Gloss, Matt and Satin Polyester films

Responsible - Gloss, Satin, Semitone, Coloured acetates, Pearlescents. All of these are DIN 13432 accredited and bio-degradable and compostable both for industrial and home compost.

Food Safe - Direct contact Polyester and PET's

Frip - Coatings

At FRIP finishing varnishing is not just varnishing. It’s an opportunity to produce stunning creative effects using a variety of specialist techniques.

Combined with lamination, foil stamping & embossing, varnishing highlights, protects and brings print to life. Varnishing can add sensations of touch and smell, and provide uniqueness to your product.

FRIP Finishing also offers a range of traditional finishing services enabling us to provide a one stop service for your print which requires finishing after decoration.

We are able to co-ordinate and finish your printed copy through to final product, pack and distribute for you.

Each of these additional processes compliments the existing decoration services that we provide and no job is too big or small for us.
Cutting
Services include die cutting, kiss cutting, perforation and auto stripping. We have invested in a variety of machines both cylinder and autoplaten able to process sheets upto B1 size.
Guillotining
Our large format Polar Guillotine enables us to offer a bespoke guillotining service for sheets up to 1150x1150mm in size.
Folding
With a range of B1 and B2 Stahl folder gluers we are able to offer flexibility of sheet size combined with rapid turnarounds.
Glueing
Combining comprehensive glueing facilities with our folding operation gives you a complete on demand service.
Stitching / Collating
Our Heidelberg stitcher offers total flexibility with 5 knife trim and up to 4 loop stitch facility.
Bench work
An experienced team of handworkers are able to offer strapping, drilling and other finishing processes to fulfill your projects additional requirements.

MetalPaper - Bespoke Metpol Lamination service

At MetalPaper we laminate a wide range of papers and boards with metpol films from our extensive stocks. Operating in sheets not reels means we are able to laminate sheets either supplied by our customers or sourced from merchant stock.

It is this multiplicity of film and board combinations coupled with our rapid turnaround times which means sourcing all types of metpol boards just got a whole lot easier.

Bespoke Mirror Card for CD Booklet

When Europe's leading Home entertainment company Creative Productivity were asked by musical worship band Hillsong Church to produce the CD packaging for their latest album Creative found themselves with a familiar problem.

Ian Browning Managing Director from Creative explains " The customer wanted the CD booklet to feel the same throughtout with the cover and the text pages printed on the same stock, however they also wanted a mirror like finish on the cover and back page. I contacted Steve Livesey at Metalpaper as they had previously laminated some metpol to my own sheets of board and I felt they may be able to help.

Mirri Card is produced by laminating a high clarity 12 micron metpol film to the coated side of a smooth card such as a cast coated card or board. The smoothness of the surface gives the finished product a highly reflective Mirror like finish.

The solutions for Creative was to supply stock sheets of 250gsm Lumisilk a woodfree quality paper which offers a smooth, multi coated surface. This paper also offers outstanding quality in demanding image printing.

Metalpaper then applied a high clarity bright silver metpol to one side on their Steinemman Lotus laminating machine. 170gsm Lumisilk was also selected for the text pages. The complete booklet was then printed on Creative's Heidelberg SM74 press using conventional litho inks (non UV).

Jaguar E Type and Frip Finishing a classic combination

When SNG Barratt Group set about producing the 50th Anniversary edition of the Jaguar E Type Parts brochure they new it had to be something special.

With so many speciality finishes available FRIP Finishing were able to help. Mark Metcalf, Graphic Designer at SNG Barratt Group commented "FRIP made the time to explain their products and services clearly; they provided foil swtaches and guidance regarding artwork. Once the artwork was finalised I was invited to sign off hard copy on site which was so quick and efficient. They have a great team.

FRIP Foil Blocked in gold, gloss UV Varnished and multi level embossed the cover with a sculptured die to give a smooth glossy finish with lustre and depth.

Mark Metcalf added "I can't fault FRIP, turnaround was quick and our deadline was met, we are really pleased with the finished product and we consistently receive great feedback on this brochure from our customers"
