  • Euro Squeeze Meets Advokaat

FilliersGraanstrokerij n. v. from Belgium has selected the new RPC standard bottle Euro Squeeze for a luxury dessert topping. The handy and attractive 500 ml top down bottle has joined the existing glass bottle to generate appeal among additional consumer groups, such as younger customers.

A special oxygen barrier inside the multilayer polypropylene bottle protects the filled product and offers a minimum shelf life of three years. The squeezable bottle ensures convenient handling and easy dosing of the product. An attractive sleeve label further enhances the pack’s eye-catching on-shelf image.

Marketed under the brand name Filliers, the product is a pure advokaat (egg liqueur) and a fruit-candy advokaat, used as a topping it turns every dessert into a uniquely tasteful experience. It was launched in the Benelux countries in the summer of 2011.

The Euro Squeeze bottles are part of RPC’s extensive standard ranges and are available in eight marketable sizes from 250 to 1000 ml.

  • INNOVATIVE CONTAINER FOR KÜHNE PROFESSIONAL

Together with the client Carl Kühne KG (GmbH & Co.) RPC Kutenholz has developed a custom 2 litre container for the food service market. The shape and specification were designed according to the production and filling needs of the customer.

The multilayer polypropylene container is equipped with a special oxygen barrier that protects the high quality products and makes it possible for preservatives to be omitted.

Despite the large size of the container, the grip handle allows for easy pouring. The innovative plastic packaging also meets catering industry security policies in line with HACCP criteria.

The new containers have been in the market since spring 2011 and are being used for Kühne’s Yoghurt, Thousand Islands, French and Balsamic dressings.

  • Drinks promotion is a winner in RPC Tedeco-Gizeh cups

A promotional cup from RPC Tedeco-Gizeh which has boosted the drinks vending business of Nestlé in Romania is set to be used in further campaigns across eastern Europe.

RPC Tedeco-Gizeh Kajarpec was asked by Nestlé Professional Romania to develop a promotional concept, in order to boost their vending business by selling more beverages to consumers through vending machines.

Several options were reviewed before the decision was taken to mark all vending cups individually, in order to run a lottery game on vending machines.

Kajarpec invested in specific ink jet printer equipment in order to print the seven-digit incremental code unique to each individual cup.

Nestlé estimates that, as a result, between 60-70 per cent of consumers have entered the promotion by SMS text message.

Rares Serban, Channel Manager for Nestlé Professional Romania said. “The promotional cups have had a fantastic success on the Romanian market.
    .../
“Nestlé Professional had originally planned one campaign in a year, but have now decided to run two campaigns in 2011.”

Nestlé Professional has now also expressed its intention to organise similar campaign in other East European countries, using the cups manufactured in Kajarpec.

  • La William’s pure taste concept guaranteed with new squeeze bottle range

A range of high quality sauces is being introduced in new plastic bottles from RPC Kerkrade.

La William, a pioneering company founded in 1963, was the first to release Andalouse and Brasil sauces into the market. The use of fresh and natural ingredients has always been critical to La William in order to bring out the best quality and most delicious taste in each of their sauces.

During the summer of 2010 La William launched a new logo and started thinking about having new squeeze bottles. In close cooperation with RPC Kerkrade and RPC Design, a new polypropylene multilayer bottle has been developed which underlines once more the company’s innovative and quality driven strategy.

La William boasts a very broad range with more than 15 different varieties offering a sauce to accompany every dish. This includes traditional perennials such as Mayonnaise, Tartare and Cocktail, but also a few novel, exotic discoveries such as Brasil, Banzai and Pitta. The first new squeeze bottles to hit the market are filled with two classic sauces - Mayonnaise and Andalouse.

  • KUTENHOLZ PP BOTTLE ADDS SIZZLE TO KÜHNE’S BBQ SAUCES

A range of high quality barbecue sauces from German producer Kühne has gone to market in new plastic bottles from RPC Kutenholz.

Working closely with Carl Kühne KG (GmbH & Co), RPC Kutenholz developed a polypropylene bottle from multilayer, highly transparent material for the new Deluxe barbecue sauce range.

It adds to an existing black-coloured 250 ml PET bottle produced for Kühne barbecue sauces.

This addition to the packaging range follows the modern demand for an increasing variety of products and processes. The transparency and squeezability of the new bottles make them even more convenient for consumers.

    …./
In the new PP variant from RPC Kutenholz the sauces are protected by a special oxygen barrier, which allows the manufacturer to dispense with preservatives. The Deluxe barbecue sauces are also free of flavour enhancers.

The sauces are in German shops just in time for the summer barbecue season and are available in four different flavours – Madras Curry, Hot Chili Jalapeño, Roasted Garlic
    and 3-Pepper Steak.

  • LA CUP2 REVOLUTIONISES ON THE GO EATING EXPERIENCE

RPC Barrier Containers is manufacturing a unique concept in ready to eat and on the go food packaging developed by Claude Sebban, former President of the French Food company Mamma Mia.

The new “la Cup2” container enables products, one of which will usually be a sauce, to be processed, packed and prepared separately and only combined at the point of consumption to ensure the final dish is presented to the consumer with the best taste, consistency and quality. The solution is suitable for hot and cold, cooked and fresh, and savoury and sweet dishes. Typical applications include accompanying sauces for a variety of food dishes such as pasta, meat and rice, as well as salads and dressings, vegetable garnishes for meat dishes and breakfast cereals and milk.

    …./

la Cup2 comprises a separate pot and lid. The sauce or other product to be added to the main dish is sealed in the lid which is then hermetically sealed to the pot to create a single pack. If required the product can be heated in the microwave. The consumer first removes the tear seal to separate the two sections, and then the action of turning the lid engages a small pin in the rim of the pot which tears the seal on the lid section, allowing the two products to be mixed together just before eating. The meal can be consumed directly from the pot.

The concept provides maximum flexibility to deal with differing product requirements. It can be manufactured in either mono-layer polypropylene for fresh or pasteurised products or with an EVOH barrier for products that require sterilisation. Pasteurised products offer an ambient shelf life of around six weeks while for sterilised products this can be up to year. Equally important, keeping the products separate during the retort process can also help to improve the overall taste and quality of the individual ingredients.

Another example of the flexibility of the design is that when the seal combining the two parts of the container is removed, if the lid section is lifted straight off the pot, its film seal remains intact. It can then be separately heated if required, for example for a hot chocolate sauce to accompany a cold dessert, or used to add a cold accompaniment to the main dish.

    …./

The Cup2 is currently available in a 300g size, but other sizes are also possible. The filled container is packed in an outer carton for maximum branding opportunities.

“We believe la Cup2 is a completely unique concept,” comments Claude Sebban who invented la Cup2. “Because the ingredients are kept separate both during processing and final preparation by the consumer, they are able to better retain their taste and quality to deliver the best results on consumption.

“Naturally, the quality of the pack is critical in all this and RPC has provided exceptional help and technical support throughout the project to create a pack that takes the concept of ‘ready to eat’ food to a new level.”

  • RPC BRAMLAGE UNVEILS NEW BARRIER PACKAGING

Injection moulding specialist RPC Bramlage has unveiled a new thin wall multilayer polypropylene pack capable of delivering a shelf life of between 12 to 24 months for a wide variety of food products.

The new barrier technology is achieved by simultaneous injection of skin and core layers, with excellent control of the EVOH barrier layer. This provides a highly effective barrier to oxygen and water vapour. Wall thicknesses as low as 0.4mm are achieved while maintaining all other benefits associated with injection moulding technology.

RPC Bramlage says the technology offers a low-cost alternative to glass and tin formats.

Packs produced using this barrier technology can be sterilised, pasteurised and heat sealed to ensure long-term product freshness. A variety of sizes can be specified and customer-specific designs can also be developed. The packs have excellent clarity and can also be decorated by in-mould labelling (IML), enabling colourful and eye-catching designs to be created to enhance brand image and ensure maximum on-shelf appeal.

    …./
“This is a major advance in barrier technology,” comments Alfons Böckmann, Director and Matthias Hammersen, Manager Food Sales of RPC Bramlage. “With increasing focus on the importance of reducing food waste, the extended shelf life of our barrier packs, combined with their ability to maintain product freshness and quality throughout this period, will be of major benefit to food manufacturers and food retailers.”
