The SONAPHONE R ultrasonic detector is designed for the quick and simple detection of small leaks and seal failures. The SONAPHONE K is designed for the testing of steam traps and other pipe-mounted valves in systems with a flow of steam of temperatures of up to 800 °C.
The SONAPHONE K enables the testing of the proper functionality of steam traps and also allows an estimate of any losses of steam within the system. The testing of steam traps occurs via the monitoring of the ultrasonic signal levels emitted from the valve. Defective steam traps emit a quite different signal to intact traps. The ultrasonic oscillations emitted at leaky steam traps are recorded and their intensity is displayed digitally. An additional temperature measurement of the surface temperature of the valve increases the reliability of the readings of the device.
The rapid testing intervals enable an assessment of the condition of the steam trap within a few seconds. Due to the large variety of types of steam traps and the specific conditions associated with individual systems and pieces of machinery, the assessment of measurement values is dependent on the decision criteria and/or ultrasound levels determined by the tester.
The SONAPHONE T mobile ultrasonic transmitter is designed for the rapid and reliable detection of seal failures in windows, doors, cabins, vehicles and containers with sealing surfaces or rubber profile seals. In addition to applications in road and rail vehicle construction, the SONAPHONE T is also used in the ship and boat building industry and for testing fire safety doors, climatic chambers and clean rooms. Used in conjunction with an ultrasonic receiver from the SONAPHONE series, the SONAPHONE T enables efficient leak testing at minimal cost. Due to the simple operating principle, use of the device does not require a great deal of costly staff training and therefore minimises post-purchase costs.
The robust ultrasonic transmitter has an integrated LC-display for simple menu navigation. The modulation of the transmission signal guarantees the clear detection of the ultrasound signal, irrespective of potential background noise. Furthermore, the sound intensity of the transmitter is also adjustable. This means that the device is capable of precisely detecting the smallest of leaks as well as large areas of leakage.
The option of using the additional omnidirectional spherical transmitter SONOSPHERE enables the testing of both very large and awkwardly-shaped areas.
Our ergonomically-designed angle beam probes for non-destructive testing (NDT), part of the SONOSCAN probe series, are designed to check for cracks and occlusions in metals. They are used primarily in the metalworking industry for the inspection of weld seams. SONOSCAN probes are efficient, robust ultrasonic transducers that can be used in conjunction with all standard ultrasonic testing devices.
Due to their variety of design and size, our probes are optimally suited for a multitude of applications. Looping-in of the probe enables it to be adapted and used for curved surfaces, for example for various types of pipeline. SONOSCAN vertical probes for non-destructive testing (NDT) have been designed to test materials, primarily metals and plastics, for the smallest of material defects. Example applications are the detection of fusion defects in soldered joints, welding defects and cracks as well as the identification of porosity in metal components.
Pulse Echo Probes are designed for universal use. They detect smallest, deep-seated material defects. The flexible protective membrane ensures an optimal coupling to rough surfaces. For slippery or sharp-edged surfaces the application of models with a wear resistant protective layer are ideal.
Dual Element Probes detect even the smallest material errors near the surface precisely. They are particularly suitable for the detection of lamination flaws and to measure thin wall thicknesses.
The efficient and robust ultrasonic transducers comply with DIN EN 12668-2.

The light and compact ultrasonic wall thickness gauge SONOWALL 60 uses multi-echo technology in order to enable reliable and precise measurement through painted surfaces and surfaces with protective coatings. Simple calibration allows the use of the device with most materials. The wall thickness gauge is simple to operate and has been specifically designed for the measurement of wall thicknesses of metal components. The SONOWALL 60 can be used for the reliable measurement of pipes, tanks, pressurised containers, machinery components and steel parts. A zero-point adjustment is not necessary. Co-developed by experienced material testers, the compact ultrasonic flaw detector for non-destructive testing unites high performance requirements with consistent user orientation. A clear menu structure guides the tester quickly through all necessary pre-test settings. All menu items are displayed in plain English and an overview of all probe settings contributes to increase the efficiency.
The device comes ready to use for most applications. The SONOSCREEN ST10 can be used for all conventional ultrasonic tests such as weld inspections, wall thickness measurements and the detection of discontinuities, which includes invisible cracks, inclusions, voids and other discontinuities in metals, plastics, ceramics and composites.
