HS-620 & HS-630

The HS-620 Vibration Monitoring Kit contains a compact, portable digital vibration meter operating with a hand-held probe. It is designed for maintenance technicians to use to monitor vibration levels on important plant machinery, helping to find potential problems and so avoid future plant failure.

The vibration monitoring kit will prove invaluable to engineers in monitoring the trend of vibration levels on motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans and all rotating machinery. Ideal as an entry-level unit for vibration monitoring, the meter's portability means that measurements can be taken in-situ in remote parts of the factory.

Conforming to the ISO 10816-3 Machine Vibration Standard, the unit can measure bearing condition and levels of velocity, acceleration and displacement, covering any of the four ISO machine group options ranging from large 300 KW machines (Group 1) down to simple pumps rated at 15 KW (Group 4). It has a 'HOLD' facility where the display will indicate the alarm status shown as 'OK', 'Vibration Alert' or 'Danger'.

The vibration meter is powered by an internal rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery which can operate for 48 hours continuously. Battery condition is displayed as an icon. The unit comes complete with both a mains powered and an in-car battery charger.

The HS-620 kit, which is available ex-stock, includes the vibration meter, the hand-held probe, a magnetic mount, mains and in-car chargers, an instruction manual, all contained within a protective carrying case.

The HS-630 model inc;udes the additional feature of measuting temperature as well as vibration.

  • Hansford Sensors launches new stainless steel enclosure range

Hansford Sensors has launched a range of stainless steel enclosures to meet the needs of its customers in a variety of applications and conditions. The enclosures provide the facility for data collection from remote points in conditions where readings are required to be taken with a portable data collector. There are three enclosures available – Standard, Compact and Protective Roof – offering a range of solutions for different industrial environments and process conditions where vibration measurement is required.

“We’ve addressed the needs of our customers by listening to them and responding with some common sense solutions,” explained Chris Hansford, Managing Director. “For example, one of our customers in the mining industry commented that when dust settles on the lid of a standard enclosure it can fall inside when the lid is opened, so we now provide an enclosure that has a sloping roof. We also now supply a compact box for customers who find that a standard box is just too big for their application.”

The products that were created to respond to these needs were the HS-SC Series Compact Enclosure, which is designed for applications where space is limited, and the HS-SR Enclosure with Sloping Roof, which protects against dusty and dirty environments by allowing run-off of contamination. Hansford Sensors stainless steel enclosures provide a common point to terminate up to 100 accelerometers in situations where, for reasons of health and safety, engineers cannot get access to the machinery to take a reading. The enclosures are sealed to IP66 and, since they are formed from stainless steel, can also be used in hygiene-critical applications, such as those in the food industry.

Hansford Sensors new range of stainless steel enclosures supports its complete range of existing industrial accelerometers. These include standard sensors, for use with all rotating and reciprocating equipment, plus submersible and ATEX-approved sensors for specialised applications, multi-sensor switch boxes, vibration sensor modules, portable vibration meters and condition monitoring protection systems.

  • New connectors from Hansford Sensors cut accelerometer installation times

A new range of quick release environmentally sealed connectors, from Hansford Sensors, will help maintenance engineers cut the time required to install or refit the company’s latest industrial accelerometers.

The new cable connectors use a standard two-pin MS plug inside a shielded rubber sleeve, which fits over the cable gland and connector assembly. This allows the complete assembly to be fitted quickly and simply, while providing a secure and effective connection that, depending on specification, is fully sealed to IP68.

The shielded rubber sleeve operates at temperatures up to 150°C, is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, oils and greases, and can be supplied with a variety of cables, including braided and armoured stainless steel.

The complete cable assemblies have been introduced for use with Hansford Sensors’ comprehensive range of industrial AC and 4-20mA accelerometers, in standard and IECEx certified versions.

  • Sensor Module with Adjustable Trip Alarms and Display

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK (1st December 2011) - The HS-510 dual trip amplifier module is ideal for operation with the Hansford Sensors range of industrial accelerometers in situations where vibration levels need to be monitored, tripping alarm relays at predetermined points.

The HS-510 will accept inputs of 0 to 10 Volts DC or 4-20mA, which can be direct from the HS-420 industrial accelerometers or via other Hansford Sensor modules such as the HS-530, HS-535, HS-556 or HS-557.

The front panel digital display allows the operator to set the trip values which when exceeded operate the internal dual relays, the contacts of which can be used for visual or audible alarms or to control or shutdown machinery or process plant. This application provides the engineer with a system offering full protection for valuable plant and machinery.

The relays are rated 3 Amps at 240 Volts AC in normally open or closed format, in latching or non-latching modes.

The compact HS-510 module measures only 114.5 x 99 x 22.5mm (H x D x W) and uses DIN rail mounting, ideal for constructing multi-channel systems into robust industrial enclosures.

Hansford Sensors Ltd offer a wide choice of HS-500 sensor conditioning modules together with a variety of industrial accelerometers to suit all types of applications across industry where vibration monitoring is used as an effective way to protect all rotating machinery and avoid costly shut-downs.

  • Hansford Sensors Releases Spot Facing Installation Kit to Enhance the Installation of their Sensors

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, UK (1st October 2011) - Hansford Sensors Ltd, global leaders in the design and manufacturing of industrial vibration sensors, announced today the release of a spot facing installation kit to aid installation and ensure true readings.

The new addition to their product range includes all the necessary tools needed to accurately mount a vibration sensor onto the rotating machine. The packaged kit includes; tapping drill, taps, tap wrench and a spot facing tool, all presented in a compact portable box. There are three versions of the kit available to allow for different mounting threads; ¼, M6 and M8.

Vibration sensors are fast becoming an integral part of the condition monitoring process and are relied upon to provide an accurate analysis of the machines health. The correct mounting of the sensor is vital to ensure reliable, true readings. The best possible method of mounting a sensor is via a drilled and tapped hole directly to the machine housing. However, this method often encounters problems when the housing is not flat. The spot facing installation kit allows the engineer to install the sensor on a flat surface ensuring best practice mounting technique.

The new Spot Facing Installation Kit was produced as a result of customer feedback which demonstrates Hansford Sensors Ltd commitment to building strong, long-term relationships with customers and their ability to provide a high level of service and technical support.

  • Dual Output Sensors Offer Vibration and Temperature Measurement

Hansford Sensors Ltd has introduced a new range of dual output sensors which will measure both vibration and temperature simultaneously from the single device.

Two versions are available within the new range: the HS-100PT has a 100mV/g vibration output as standard (other sensitivities are available) and PT100 temperature output for easy interface with on-line monitoring systems.

The HS-420RT version also has the built-in PT100 temperature sensor, but offers the vibration output as a standard 4-20mA signal for use in low cost on-line monitoring with the capability of interfacing directly with PLCs, BMS or any 4-20mA input module.

This choice of sensor models gives extra flexibility within different industrial systems, allowing application in the monitoring of both vibration and temperature levels of industrial plant and machinery such as fans, motors, pumps, compressors, centrifuges, air handlers, dryers, gearboxes, rolls, presses, HVAC, spindles, machine tooling, process equipment, etc.

All Hansford sensors are constructed in welded stainless steel offering robustness and reliability when operated in harsh industrial environments.
