Nieuwe productgroep: EcoSlim Non-PVC folie

For decades professionals in the foodstuffs industry have been choosing PVC film for packing various types of fresh produce. Foodstuffs such as fresh meat, cheese, fruit, vegetables and cooked dishes are protected in this way and preserved under hygienic conditions. The success of PVC film is due to a number of positive properties, such as high elasticity and unequalled transparency. Manufacturers face the challenge of
modifying the chemical formulas of their films to minimise the potential migration of plastic additives for various forms of
prepacked foodstuff. The DOA-free Catering film introduced by Bordex Packaging in 2010 is an example of this.

EcoSlim Non-PVC film
In 2012 we will continue with this trend because, together with our Italian film partner, we will introduce an innovative EcoSlim Non-PVC stretch film. The film is available in various widths and thanks to a lower specific gravity and
increased elasticity properties it is an excellent choice from an ecological point of view. The film is suitable for many applications. Regardless of the nature of the prepacked food, EcoSlim Non-PVC film users can be certain that they satisfy legislation – even in the most unfavourable situations!

Crystal-clear and environmentally friendly
EcoSlim non-PVC film is a crystal clear polyolefine stretch film. It contains no chlorine or plasticisers and is 100% recyclable. This means less waste and environmentally friendly in use! This new Non-PVC film is ideal for the packaging of various types of foodstuffs, including products with a high fat content. The films are intended for industrial use and are available in various
standard widths from 250 to 600 mm.

TP punnets: packaging opportunities for the soft fruit sector

The TP sealpunnets from Bordex has an effective design and it is very versatile. This new series enables Bordex to respond to the benefits and the increased demand for the top-sealing of punnets – the trend in the AGF sector, instead of the traditional lids. The savings in lids alone gives a reduction in costs. Other packaging costs such as labour are also considerably reduced, and in addition waste is minimised.

Versatility
The sealed packaging for strawberries, raspberries or other types of soft fruit can also be provided with a label. This gives them the perfect appearance and makes for excellent presentation on the shelves. The soft fruit punnets are relatively lightweight, manufactured from APET (supplemented with rPET), crystal clear and unbreakable. The new series is available in two different sizes. The dimensions correspond to the current standard sizes in the market and are therefore a good choice with respect to logistics. With the top-seal options they are the perfect packaging solution for the soft fruit sector.

Optimal atmosphere
Because fresh vegetables and fruit require oxygen, the base is provided with ventilation holes as usual. As a ‘one-stop packaging provider’ Bordex Packaging can also offer various film solutions. For example one interesting option is the combination with perforated Mylar top film, creating the optimum atmosphere in the packaging and thus guaranteeing a long shelf life. Our manufacturing facility in Italy produces both standard sizes and custom-made AGF packaging for all types of vegetables and fruit. Increasing demand for printed OPP film

OPP film is extremely versatile. It is used successfully for the packaging of various food products; particularly for bakery, vegetable, fruit and snacks. OPP film is valued for its excellent physical and barrier properties. Its protective qualities (e.g. against odours, oxygen and water vapour) in combination with its shiny appearance makes it an especially attractive product. It is an optimal packaging solution, capable of displaying the contents (your produce!) at its very best.

The film is suitable for many types of packaging machines. OPP film is lightweight, but at the same time very strong. OPP film has other positive characteristics: it is extremely good for printing on, is excellent for processing and has an excellent appearance. In addition OPP film can be laminated with other materials, such as PE or other polymer films. Printed OPP film can be supplied relatively quickly with a print of 1 to 10 colours. The perforated film is perforated with macro, micro or laser perforation. News concerning the PET Drinking glass series

In the spring of 2011 Bordex successfully introduced a complete series of PET drinking glasses, including various types of lids. At our production site in Krokowa in Poland we develop innovative products and materials that have a minimum impact on the environment during both production and use. This is also the reason why we will shortly be manufacturing the current series of drinking glasses partially from rPET (recycled PET).

rPET – 100% safe and ‘food approved’
The use of rPET not only means considerable energy savings, it also reduces the use of ‘virgin’ raw materials. To guarantee the current clarity as much as possible, the glasses will be manufactured from a maximum of 30% post-consumer PET. In the meantime extensive tests have shown that this switch has no effect on the performance and the physical and visual properties of the products. rPET is a 100% safe and ‘food approved’ alternative.

We have implemented some manufacturing changes in addition to the switch to rPET. The glasses are produced as efficiently as possible in Poland, using the latest and fastest Gabler machines. New lids for Drinks & AGF glasses

Bordex Packaging is introducing three new types of lids that will be available from March 2012. Despite some delay we will introduce the visually striking lid with the sloping surface (window) first. Viewed from above the content of the glass is clearly visible. In addition the flat side can function as a clearly visible and effective publicity carrier. Interest in the new PET has been strong for many months now. The production technology needed to manufacture these lids correctly was complex (including ventilation holes in the round section), but this has now been successfully concluded. Samples will be available from March onwards.

Kick-off for the UEFA European Football Championship
This summer is the UEFA cup football competition and the campaigns will begin again over the coming months. Bordex has developed a special theme lid in the shape of a half football. The lids are only available with a ‘hole’ and in the diameter 95 mm (78 mm can be supplied on request). This provides a suitable UEFA cup lid for the 400 and 500 cc capacities. Samples are available and we will be pleased to send you them on request.

Practical insert cup
Bordex has introduced a perfectly stackable lid to suit the popular ‘Grab ’n Go’ trend. The simple but effective click system enables an insert cup to be added. This is a perfect solution for many combinations; e.g. yoghurt with muesli or salad with dressing. These insert cups, with a capacity of 70 cc, are obtainable in black, transparent and white. The lid has a diameter of 92.7 mm and is therefore a perfect fit for our 9 oz (270 cc) or 12/14 oz (370 cc) APET ‘Fruits and Veggies’ shakers.
