Corona treatment

Corona treatment is the most common method of increasing surface energy on substrates to promote adhesion when printing, coating or laminating. Corona treatment systems are made of several components designed to apply a high voltage, high frequency Corona electrical discharge to your film.

An electrode connected to a high frequency
generator and high AC voltage,
emits an electric field in the form of corona.
This changes physically and chemically
the material (adhesion of inks, glues, ...).
Our customized CORONA stations.
■■ From a few centimeters to several meters.
■■ All types of dielectric cylinders (covered
with silicone or silicone sleeves,
rectified or not, ceramics).
■■ All electrodes (multileaf, U adjustable
aluminum segments and stainless
steel, ceramic electrodes).

vacuum Plasma treatment / nanocoating

Plasma treatment is the most
elaborated process. This is an
activation that takes place in a
vacuum environment.
For simplicity, it is a “corona” under
vacuum with an ionizing gas (choice
depending on the properties
required). The ionized gas enters
the surfaces of the material to be
processed.

Operation
■■ Increased surface tension:
hydrophilic: better adhesion
of glues and paint.
■■ Decrease surface tension:
super hydrophobic
or oleophobic: to make
materials waterproof (nanocoating).
■■ Ultrafine cleaning of materials.
Applications
■■ Etching of silicone ...
■■ Cleaning of contaminated
parts.
■■ Plasma activation of
plastic (printing, glueing).
■■ Film deposition. Water
and oil repellent nanocoating.

Anti-Static Additives

These are internal static treatments. The
additives are added when producing the
materials in order to obtain permanent
antistatic properties.
■■ PP, Polypropylene (FILM, INJECTION)

Internal processing of PP ( PP granules).
Quality of treatment: 1010/11 ohms/cm
(at 50% RH/20° C), suitable for food.
Duration: several years in the absence
of friction and depending on the
dosage.

STATICONTROL® AS 15:
Internal treatment of LDPE ( low density
polyethylene).
Quality of treatment: 1010/11 ohms/cm
(at 50% RH/20° C), suitable for food.
Duration: several years in the absence
of friction and depending on the
dosage.
■■ polypropylene
STATICONTROL® MSG STAT 190:
Internal processing of PP.
Quality of treatment: 1011 ohms/cm
(at 50% RH/20° C), suitable for food.

Surface Tension Test Pens

Surface tension is an essential point for adhesion in printing, sticking process on plastic, metallic, and generally all non porous materials.
The Boussey control test pens and inks allow an accurate and quick determination of surface tension in dyne/cm (mN/m).
