GEFRAN Active Front End Regenerative Power Supply Unit

AFE200 is the range of regenerative power supply units
incorporating Active Front End technology.
Ideal for powering the batteries of drives connected on the
same DC Bus or even for managing single-drive configurations.

The AFE200 offers a number of advantages:
- “Clean Power” thanks to the unit power factor and reduced
harmonic distortion (<5%)
- Enhanced system dynamics during drive and regeneration
- Considerable energy savings during regeneration transients
- Improved stability of the DC Bus circuit under load
changes

The AFE200 range has power ratings of 22kW to 1,2MW

  • Gefran rides the wave of simplicity in Magnetostrictive technology

    Simplicity. This is the main feature of Gefran’s new solution for measuring displacement by means of magnetostrictive technology.

    The result of constant technological research and innovation (always the added value of Gefran products), this new solution is called ONDA (wave). Referring to the physical principle for magnetostrictive technology, the name ONDA emphasises that the solution is simple enough to be used even in applications that do not require high technology.

    ONDA technology uses a new sensitive element to read magnetic cursors. The structure of the sensitive element has been simplified and optimised thanks to innovative technological solutions developed and patented by Gefran.

    To launch this new technology, Gefran introduces a magnetostrictive displacement transducer with a completely new profile: ONP1-A, available in a few different versions to satisfy main applicative requirements while still maintaining simplicity.

    Above all, there is simplicity in the choice of options. The catalogue offers various types of cursors and mounting brackets for the best mechanical solution compatible with existing solutions. Two types of main outputs are available: in voltage and in current.

    Simplicity also refers to installation: the compactness of the profile and transducer head, the choice of a popular connector (solenoid), adjustable brackets, etc., all make the ONP1-A an easy-to-install product in any situation.

    Lastly, the simplicity of the new ONP1-A also regards transducer maintenance: magnetostrictive technology ensures high accuracy of measurement and longer life thanks to a reading system based on a magnetic, i.e., contactless, principle.

    In addition, the ONP1-A offers the advantage of an excellent price/performance ratio, ensuring the quality of a magnetostrictive product at the cost of one based on more conventional, low-performance technology.

    ONP1-A is available for strokes from 50 to 1500 mm. Its IP65 structure and sturdiness make it suitable for most industrial automation applications.     The new generation of efficiency. This is the message that Gefran (Italy) launches at Interlift 2009, the top international event for the civil lifting market. A message that synthesises the main features of its new range of drives, designed to save energy and protect the environment.

    Thanks to Gefran’s know-how from over 40 years in civil lifting, the new range is based on technology that ensures greater plant efficiency by recovering and regenerating energy for the grid, thereby achieving significant energy savings.

    These new series of drives (ADL200, ADL100 and AVRy) are the result of an analysis of real needs of operators and of constant technical and practical cooperation with system integrators and builders of lift systems.
    These are versatile, modular solutions that adapt to every type of system - roomless or traditional, with or without gear motor – and offer ad hoc control configuration for all types of automation architectures.

    The ADL200 and ADL100 drives are available in a wide range of power levels and integrate specific advanced functions for the lift sector. These functions ensure high performance and make starting and stopping of the cabin extremely comfortable, precise, and safe in systems with asynchronous and synchronous drives and with the advanced configurations of modern civil lift systems.

    The AVRy drives integrate state-of-the-art control for synchronous motors and sophisticated technology to recover “clean energy” for the grid. They exploit the energy potential generated by vertical movement of the cabin mass and convert it into electrical energy to be regenerated to the power supply.

    Each drive offers significant benefits:
    ADL drives increase system speed and reduce energy consumption and costs by up to 48%. With regard to environmental impact, ADL drives cut CO2 emissions by up to 1000 Kg/year.

    These values are further increased when regenerative AVRy drives are installed. In this case, energy consumption is reduced by an additional 42%, for savings of up to 90%, while CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 6000 Kg/year.

    With an advantageous motor-drive size in combination with the new range of high-performance TSM300H drives, AVRy offers significant benefits in terms of running costs.

  • Gefran expands its operating panel range and aims for Sturdiness and Reliability

    Gefran expands its family of GF_VEDO operating panels by launching the new HL serie, offering a complete and technologically advanced range to satisfy every demand from the automation market in terms of performance and display size.
    An integrated keyboard can be selected instead of the touch screen for the 6.5” and 10.4” models.
    The HL series is the top of the line, and is based on different processors (Pentium Celeron 600MHz, Celeron Mobile 1500 MHz, Pentium Mobile 1800 MHz) with 12.1” and 15” display.
    In line with current models, the new series have no cooling fans and use “Compact Flash” and “Disk On Module” memories.
    These solutions make them extremely reliable and sturdy even with extremely heavy use.
    As always, the standard range of communication ports is very wide, and includes: double Ethernet port 10/100Mbps, four USB 2.0, one optically-isolated RS485, a proprietary serial port for keyboard connections (TF series) for control and management of automation controls, PS2 port for mouse and keyboard.
    Thanks to the integrated SofPLC, these products can be used for simple display, supervision, and the control and management of complex systems

  • GF_PROMER: a New Universal Programmer/Controller. Easy, Quick and Versatile

    GF_PROMER is the abbreviation of “Gefran Programmer.”
    This abbreviation summarizes the goal that Gefran (leader in the design and production of automation components, sensors and drives) has set for itself: create a setpoint programmer/controller that is easy and quick to program and use for any user in any sector. Among the main sectors are thermal treatment furnaces, climatic chambers, and autoclave driers
    This goal has been achieved by using cutting-edge hardware and software technologies: high-resolution TFT color, ¼ VGA screens, with GF_VEDO series touch screen and 3.5” and 5.7” monitor.

    Its main characteristics include:
    - intuitive graphics software, designed for guided, “no-manual” programming
