The TLR telescopic rail slides are the world’s only telescopic slide system which incorporates a self-aligning feature to absorb parallelism errors of the mounting surfaces when used in pairs.
The TLR telescopic slides are designed for heavy duty High-Tech telescopic applications, with precise motorized movements, whereby a constant smooth sliding performance is required with no play. These sliding rails are recommended for high frequency applications.
The sliding rails feature our patented nitride hardening process, black T-Nox impregnated oxidized thermochemical treatment prior to each telescopic slide rail being individually honed to perfection.
The high performance telescopic slide interface is provided by the use of double-row precision bearings, strong linear rails with hardened and honed raceways, fixed to a rigid intermediate S-shaped steel plate, assuring high load capacities and low flexion at even full extension telescopic positions. The TLR slides guarantee maintenance free operation, thanks to efficient raceway wipers and longitudinal seals for dust and impurity protection. An integrated lubricated-for-life greasing system assuring a constant thin but even layer of lubrication on the linear rails raceway surfaces guarantees for a long operation period.
The Telescopic TLR sliding systems offers unique possibilities and benefits for all kinds of automation applications with variable strokes, for which a ball-cage slide often has ball-cage creeping problems, i.e. friction problems to reach full extension, as ball-cage is forced out to an end position, instead of rolling.
TLRX slides for corrosive ambient applications
For corrosive ambient environments the telescopic slide TLRX is available, with all components and intermediate element in stainless steel INOX, except the rails, which have T RACE-NOX anti-corrosion treatment; an oxidation treatment and impregnation in hot oil is applied to offer a good corrosion resistance. Telescopic slide rails can benefit from being cathodic epoxy coated (e-Coat) extrenal to the linear rails raceways which is ideal for pharmaceutical, food processing industry and marine / off shore applications and has been tested extensively in salt spray conditions to a high level.
The TLR telescopic slides allow for an extension equal to the closed slide plus a small constant. The telescopic extension is obtained by movement of the intermediate element and the lower rail, while the upper rail is fixed to structure. As it can be seen in our literature (see Telescopic Slides brochure), the movement of the lower rail is more than the upper rail, due to optimizing of load capacity and the fact that the linear rail rollers are positioned on the intermediate element to offer maximum high load capacity in this position. Hereby the TLR telescopic slides are asymmetric, so the slides must be ordered as left side slide TLRS and right side slide TLRD and when installed the product code must be on the top side.
The load capacities are all indicated per single telescopic rail, with centered load position, equal to half the telescopic rail in extended position.
When TLR telescopic slides are used in pairs, they offer the possibility to absorb minor structural errors or non-precise installation, which otherwise would proportionally increase the required force for moving the mobile part, in both the extending and closing directions. This is a typical problem for ballcage telescopic slides.
Using a pair of self-aligning TLR telescopic slides, smooth low friction movement is assured, along with a simplified installation and/or less precise workings of the structure, i.e. offering cost savings. The self-aligning telescopic rail feature is obtained by having a combination of floating rollers and guiding rollers in the TLR..A telescopic slider. i.e. allowing for a minor rotation of the rails, maintaining the preload in both upper and lower rails of the TLR..A telescopic slide.
The suffix A in TLR..A, indicates “Aligning” The concept is well illustrated in the catalogue section MONORACE, for which the base component linear rails have their origin.
It should be noted that the rotation of the TLR..A telescopic slide hereby changes the nominal value of 18.6mm to 17.2mmm (S min) – 19,0mm (S max) while compensating dimensional errors on mobile structures or distance errors between the two lateral sides of the fixed structure, for which the upper rails are fixed to. Herewith avoiding binding-problems, which would much increase friction force, with consequent reduced load capacity and decreased expected life-time.
The TLR..A telescopic slide is in general always used as a pair with a standard TLR, so as to assure good lateral stability. However adequate self-aligning can also be obtained for movement of vertical panels, with use of TLR..A telescopic extension slide at the top to absorb some mis-alignment, and with some retainer guidance at the lower part.
