There are many brand owners who do not believe that packaging alone can drive brand innovation and ultimately sales.
We as packaging specialists don't help ourselves here, as all too often we wave case studies around which are novel - yes - but innovative and money makers - no!
So if we are to be taken more seriously; if we are to continue to be pro-active; if we want to be ambassadors of true packaging innovation - lets try and set some better definitions on what it is and what it's not.
A stimulating and provocative 45 minutes punctuated with some high profile successes as well as a number of fakes!
Robert Monaghan - Innovator & Designer
Robert was born in Scotland, where he studied Industrial Design, which led him to domestic appliance design for Electrolux, where he created a number of new kitchen and cleaning products over a relatively short period.
On moving to London he discovered the world of fast moving consumer goods and brands, and has since spent almost 20 years working on the creative agency side, running design and innovation projects for clients such as Unilever, Nestlé, Diageo, Henkel, GSK, Coca Cola, Sara Lee and Nokia.
Robert set up a new agency, Air Innovation, in 2006 to further promote and deliver on innovation, both program management and cultural development working in strategic partnerships with Unilever, Kraft, Pernod Ricard and Philips.
Air’s USP is our ability to work on real client challenges - areas where there are no clear briefs - only a need to sort a serious problem or uncover a breakthrough.
Robert is an accomplished speaker at conferences, who thrives on the opportunity of composing fresh and engaging thought pieces on anything to do with the future and innovation.
He is a big believer that everyone within an organisation has the capacity for creativity – indeed the best ideas should come from within.
He regularly ‘designs’ and facilitates innovation workshops for client teams making sure that all the correct inputs and stimulus are available to maximize the resulting outputs.
