Mushroom Packaging

Holfeld Plastics has one of the broadest ranges of mushroom punnets for the UK, Irish and European markets. The r-PET products offer advantages over and above PP - aesthetically better looking products and therefore more shelf appeal, lower carbon footprint, r-PET is made from post consumer recyclate and can be recycled easily in the waste stream unlike some blended products acccommodating a mineral filler content. PET is a natural choice of material for mushroom punnets with an increased CO2 saving in the manufacturing process than the equivalent Polypropylene (PP).

The range consists of 7 varying depths of punnets from 150g to 750g for all types of mushroom species.

Fish, Poultry and Meat Packaging

A full series of products for the fish and poultry packing industries in at least 85% recycled PET and available in a broad range of colours.

The 'C' range is one of the most comprehensive ranges of fish and poultry trays comprising depths from 32mm to 70mm.

The 'S' range is an ideal crate-fit for meat and fish packaging and padded in line. Optimal palletisation with A-B denesting and available in variable depths from flat to very deep bases.

The Prawn range of trays is available in 3 sizes whilst the wholebird range is in 5 sizes and suitable for bird size up to 3kg.

The European range has, at its core, the E24 range. This is available in sizes 19mm to 60mm.

The E24 family of packaging is manufactured in rPETeCO. Holfeld Plastics has been investing substantially in new thermoforming and extrusion equipment to support the production of their new range of lightweight r-PETeCO packaging for multiple applications across food and non-food markets.

The material has an appealing and highly tactile on-shelf image with a distinct ‘non-plastic’ appearance. It is lightweight with specific gravity reduced from 1.33 to 1.05. Holfeld advise that the weight of the packaging is up to 20% lighter than virgin PP trays. The material contains at least 85% food grade recyclate. It is available with a PE sealing layer with the potential to provide a high gas barrier in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) packaging applications. Dr Pat Ward of Holfeld comments ‘Barrier protection of rPETeCO mono material is approximately 90% that of standard PET but more than 30 times higher than standard PP. The 85% post consumer recyclate blend has led to a 74% CO2 saving on raw materials and a 47% reduction in the carbon footprint.’
