The IP-500 Desktop is the little sister of the successful IP-5x family of the company Infotech. Perfect for process development and small series production, the machine is offering the same level of quality and reliability as we are used to with production equipment. The open and easy accessible desktop platform may be configured with the same application specific peripherals (dispense units, pick & place heads, feeders, etc .) as for the „big“ machines. That enables the user to lift a product from its prototype stage into the mass production without troubles and huge cost. Flexibility, short changeover times and as well as an easy, intuitional programming style are the result of a consequently converted philosophy.

Eutectic Bonding

Over the past years the eutectic bonding has been replaced more and more by epoxy die bonding. Today the eutectic bonding process experiences a real revival. Outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity as well as good bond strength are benefits that are very welcome to many applications since the microelectronic parts have greater electrical performance and reduced sizes. This facts lead to an increased demand for mechanically strong and electrically immaculate bonding of the die to its substrate.
Today the eutectic bonding process is well established and widely used on manual or semi-automatic bonding machines. Huge production volumes paired with the demand of high yield and cost-effectiveness poses a challenge to the person responsible for the production in terms of automating eutectic bonding on a high quality level.
Infotech is reacting on this demand. The approved industry platform IP-520 Cell has been extended to the eutectic bonding functionality. Its capabilities – high throughput, reliability and flexibility on a small footprint – support our customer’s effort to keep the production quality high and the costs low. The high accuracy of the IP-520 Cell has an extra effect to the eutectic bonding, because not only the placement accuracy but also the parallelism of the die to its substrate plays an important role.

Pick from wafer for prototyping and small series production

NEW: With the latest generation of the IP-500 Desktop, dies can be picked directly from wafer (up to 6 inch), flipped if required, and placed to the substrate. In combination with dispensing and thermal processes the IP-500 represents a unique and powerful “production island”.
Difficult processes with tiny delicate parts can be efficiently performed with highest precision and reliability even for small production volumes.
