NO MAINTENANCE WITHOUT SAFETY!
In Belgium the number of fatal industrial accidents due to lack of or improper maintenance work has doubled between 2006 and 2008. This number represents 25% of the total number of fatal accidents on the work floor.
Most of these accidents could, however, have been avoided. Safe maintenance work is the first phase of the prevention procedure.

Unique and free training session “Safety culture coaching”

Sirk Sekuur, or ‘safety culture coaching’, is a methodology that coaches both supervisors and workers on how to install a company safety culture. It zooms in on behaviour as the missing link after structural and procedural modifications. The emphasis is on risk perception and behavioural response among workers and the hierarchical line. Sirk Sekuur literally zooms in on the skills required for a safety culture.
The training is an example of good practice for implementation of the “behavioural change” module from VCA 2008/05 (chapter 4.2). Participants will also learn the LMRA principles through various practice situations.

A survey among 500 Maintenance managers shows that hand protection and hearing protection in particular are not always worn when performing maintenance work.
