  • Lightweight models for Virtual Reality and Industry 4.0

    CoreTechnologie is a software provider for 3D CAD data interoperability with locations in Germany, France, USA and Japan. The mission is to produce and enhance the most comprehensive 3D conversion, CAD Viewer and collaboration software tools available today.
    The CAD interoperability software 3D_Evolution, which is used by more than 500 leading companies worldwide, celebrated its 15th anniversary this year. Today, the software includes the latest trends for VR, CAx and Industry 4.0 considering and realizing its clever innovations. The software supports the latest formats such as CATIA V5 R27, CATIA V6, NX 11, JT 10.2, SOLIDWORKS 2017 as well as the new standard of aerospace industry STEP AP242 for loss-free conversion between all current CAD systems.
    In the new version 4.1 of 3D_Evolution, the Simplifier module has been optimized concerning the requirements for all augmented, mixed and virtual reality platforms and applications within the Industry 4.0.
    This module generates envelope geometries from very detailed CAD models just only in less seconds. Deleting wall thicknesses and merging all clashed geometries are the steps for most efficient simplification of 3D data that results to lightweight models. Moreover, the Shrink Wrap function detects all outer bodies to be kept for further processes while the inner life will be filtered and deleted permanently. In the one hand, the number of file size as well as of polygons can be reduced by 90 % so that even large CAD models are representable in AR/MR/VR glasses or platforms. In the other hand, these results of e.g. large data can be easily transferred in each steps of Industry 4.0 by the less data size. Additionally, this data reduction realizes Know-how protection of complex models.
    3D models from all current formats can be extremely reduced and saved now in the innovative view file FBX, which includes all VR and AR standards as perfect rendering, kinematics and animations.
    The mega trend of additive manufacturing will also be taken into account in 3D_Evolution 4.1 by the new formats of 3D printing - 3MF and AMF. CoreTechnologie is developing for next major releases of its tools in regards to the next generation of a revolutionary additive manufacturing software.

    Data Conversion 4.0: Software supports new CAD format for the aircraft industry

    The current version of the data conversion software "3D_Evolution 4.0" already supports forward-looking STEP standards for the extended CAD data exchange. The software is used by renowned companies in the aerospace industry, including Lufthansa Technik AG.

    Frankfurt / Main (ab / mas) - The German-French software manufacturer CoreTechnologie (CT) has refined its data conversion software "3D_Evolution". The current software version supports, among other major CAD formats, already the new STEP AP 242 format, which is a future standard for the collaboration of companies in the aerospace industry. The new STEP AP 242 format is already fully supported by the current version of the data conversion software, 3D_Evolution 4.0. Leading companies in the aircraft industry, such as Lufthansa Technik AG from Hamburg, use 3D_Evolution for the STEP data exchange with customers, suppliers and engineering partners.

    Future-oriented solution
    STEP AP 242 provides companies with a proven standard that also covers future-oriented topics such as composite materials and kinematics as well as "model-based engineering" (MDB). In particular MDB is an important focus because, by dimensioning directly on the 3D model, 2D drawings are about to be replaced.

    Further integral components of the new AP 242 standard are the XML representation of assembly structures as well as a comprehensive handling of PDM-relevant meta-information. The new format makes the 3D data description a leading source of information for product data and will serve as a backbone in the entire PLM process.

    Analysis of Complex Plastic Parts

    3D_Analyzer Viewer has been designed to analyze wall thicknesses, undercuts and demoulding angles as well as to calculate projected areas of components and assembly groups of complex plastic parts.

    In comparison with conventional CAD systems, this application is very cost-effective and it can be operated in such an easy way that also users without any CAD know-how can work with this extensive tool. In the Viewer, calculations take place quickly and precisely. During the process, the wall thickness check also detects areas with heavy changes in wall thickness. Due to the fully automatic calculation of the projected area, the clamp force and thus the machine design can be determined with just a few mouse clicks without any CAD knowledge.

    The 3D_Analyzer Viewer generates colour gradients to indicate wall thicknesses and demoulding angles. Moreover, the Viewer has dynamic cutting as well as measuring functions. The absolute novelty are analysis reports in PDF format with text information, 3D models and 2D views.

    Analysis functions are supplemented by geometric model comparison, to indicate differences between models of also different formats. Additionally, for DMU examinations, there is a function to determine collisions in assemblies as well as to calculate clearances between all single parts or components and all surrounding parts. Furthermore, the latest version enables the creation of, explosion views that can also be animated as well as drawing creation as DWG files.

    The Viewer can read all common CAD formats such as CATIA V4/V5/V6, NX, Creo, Solidworks, Inventor, STEP, JT and many other ones. From within the Viewer, models can be saved in JT, CT as well as a PDF file. Floating licenses with a borrowing function enable a simple, flexible use of the software within and outside of companies.
