  • YouRing smart programmable collar

    NEW, SMART LIGHT COLLAR SHOWS COBOT STATUS

    Collaborative working between operator and Universal Robot has been elevated to whole new level thanks to an innovative accessory now available from RARUK Automation. YouRing is a smart, programmable device which can easily be mounted to the robot tool flange that gives visual and audible information on robot status.

    Wireless connectivity and the URCaps plug-in that is supplied with the YouRing makes this neat and clever device easy to install; URCaps is the accessory platform that enables full integration into Polyscope, the UR GUI for robot programming and operation. YouRing can then be freely programmed to meet the needs of the application and operator.

    As well indicating the direction of travel, YouRing can work to a user selectable safety plan and communicate, for example, when an object has been grasped or assembled correctly or when tolerance needs to be checked.

    A rainbow pallet and a choice of coloured LEDs can be assigned to different tasks, they can also flash and create a rotating effect that follows the movement of the arm. Similarly, the pitch, volume and frequency of the buzzer can be adjusted for various warning functions.

    Buttons on YouRing enable the free-drive mode to be selected and execute specific script functions such as turn on a digital output or manually re-activate the robot after a task has been paused.

    Certified by Universal Robots for use on its entire range of six-axis robot arms, YouRing is compliant with ISO:TS15066, the standard that specifies safety requirements for collaborative industrial robot systems and the work environment.

  • MiR200 mobile industrial robot

    CUSTOMISABLE MOBILE INDUSTRIAL ROBOT FOR TRANSPORT TASKS

    When RARUK Automation launched its MiR100, mobile industrial robot, last year it attracted a lot of attention from manufacturers actively looking at the most cost-effective ways of automating their production. The neat device has found favour with those seeking to optimize workflow, increase productivity and reduce costs and now RARUK Automation has introduced a new model to the range.

    With extraordinary flexibility and smart technology, the MiR200™ can be used in virtually any situation where employees are spending time pushing carts or making deliveries. It removes the tedium, allowing staff to focus on higher value activities.

    MiR200 autonomously transports a payload of up to 200kg and can be customized with top modules such as bins, racks, lifts, conveyors or even a Universal Robot. It also has the option of a hook mechanism that provides a towing capacity of 500kg. Indeed, many of the MiR sales enquiries RARUK Automation has received to date have been for the MiR in combination with a Universal Robot; the six-axis collaborative robot arm also supplied by RARUK Automation. Top modules are easy and quick to change so the MiR200 can be redeployed for different tasks.

    The MiR200 robot safely manoeuvres around people and obstacles, through doorways and in and out of lifts and complies with EN1525 safety regulations. CAD files of the factory or facility layout can be downloaded directly to the robot or it can be programmed via the simple, web-based interface that requires no previous programming experience. The robot’s route and task can then be easily changed using a smartphone, tablet or computer connected to the network and has a battery runtime of 10 hours or 20km.

    A key benefit of the MiR system is that it requires no network of expensive and inflexible wires or sensors to guide its path so it’s simple to integrate and provides a fast return on investment. The robot’s built-in sensors, cameras and sophisticated software identifies its surroundings and takes the most efficient route to its destination.

    LIGHTWEIGHT, TABLE-TOP ROBOT FOR COLLABORATIVE WORKING

    Since R. A. Rodriguez established its automation operating division, Universal Robots have proved highly popular products in its range. They have allowed the company to engineer cost-effective production solutions that allow humans and robots to work collaboratively without the need for safety guarding. The UR5 and UR10 sizes of Universal Robots are complemented by a lightweight table-top version, the UR3.

    The extremely compact and virtually noiseless UR3 has a footprint of just 118mm and is the product of three years of development. It weighs 11kg but has a payload of 3kg, ±360-degree rotation on all wrist joints and infinite rotation on the end joint.

    These features make the UR3 the most flexible collaborative robot in its class. It’s the ideal choice for applications that require 6-axis capability where size, safety and costs are all critical issues. Power consumption is equally low; 100W using a typical programme.

    Central to the design is the inclusion of a patented safety system that makes the IP54 classified UR3 particularly suitable for tasks that require human interaction. Fifteen advanced safety functions are fully adjustable to meet the needs of specific applications.

    A wide range of I/O ports are easy to configure either as digital or safety signals and the robot has standard communication protocols for easy integration into the automated environment.

    The flexibility of UR3 allows this new addition to assist in a wide range of applications across industry. It’s cost-effective for automating single tasks such as gluing or screw-fastening to ensure consistent process quality but is equally suited to picking, assembling and placing parts on the production line.

    Thanks to its compact form and easy programming, the UR3 makes it simple to switch between tasks to meet agile manufacturing needs; programming is via a 12” touchscreen. As a result the total cost of ownership is low and the payback period, fast.
